LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville head diving coach Ryan Rougeux has announced the addition of Samson Miller as an assistant diving coach to the Cardinals’ staff.

Miller comes to Louisville from Chattanooga, Tenn., where he spent the past two seasons as the head coach of Baylor Dive Club. At Baylor, Miller coached the 2026 Tennessee girl’s state champion, two National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) All-American athletes and led 10 athletes to the 2026 AAU and USA Diving Junior National Championships. Upon his arrival, Miller grew the club from a handful of athletes to over 50 in his first season, several of whom went on to dive at the NCAA collegiate level.

“I am very excited to welcome Samson to our staff as assistant diving coach,” said Rougeux. “Samson brings great knowledge and a genuine love for the sport that is contagious. He will be instrumental to our team culture and our divers’ success in the pool and in life!”

Prior to his time at Baylor, Miller was the program director and owner of Wahoo Dive Club in Charlottesville, Va. From 2021-2024, he coached five individual Virginia state champions, one NISCA All-American athlete, two USA Junior National qualifiers, and was named the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Associations (VISAA) diving coach of the year in 2023. His club produced multiple NCAA Division I level athletes.

“I am thrilled to join the Louisville swim and dive program and honored to be working alongside Ryan, Arthur [Albiero], and the rest of the coaching staff,” said Miller. “Ryan has built this program into one of the top diving teams in the country, and I’d like to thank him for the opportunity to be a part of its continued success. The UofL divers have established a tradition of excellence that is backed by hard work, high energy and a fundamental passion for our sport. I’m so grateful to be working with this squad and can’t wait to see what the 2026-27 season brings!”

Miller graduated from the University of Virginia in 2020 and dove for the Cavaliers during the 2016-2017 season. He grew up diving for Dominion Dive Club in Fairfax, Va., where he became a four-time NISCA All-American and attended the USA Diving Junior National Championships on a yearly basis. He began his coaching career at Greenbriar Pool Club in 2012, assuming the role of head coach from 2015-2021.
