Indiana Indiana Tennessee Tennessee Virginia Virginia NC State NC StateMatch Scoring
Winner — 4 points 2nd — 3 points 3rd — 2 points 4th — 1 pointCurrent Standings
The University of Virginia is the only undefeated team in the College Swim League, and they have defeated NC State and Tennessee in head-to-head matches. Claire Curzan was unstoppable last week at the U.S. SC World Trials, and will be looking to build off that momentum today. Anna Moesch is not racing for the Cavaliers tonight, which is a hit to their relays and freestyle races.
Tennessee has been exceptional this season, and while Camille Spink raced at Trials, most of their athletes did not. They almost beat Virginia in their last match, and if DQs or certain race finishes go their way, they could be looking at an upset. The Tennessee men have also had really strong showings this season, and if they are on, they will likely help keep the meet close.
NC State had a very strong showing in their 5th CSL match, but lost to Virginia head-to-head in the 2nd match. They have a lot of star power, but their biggest strengths on the women’s side come in events where Virginia is deep. Eneli Jefimova will be crucial in the breaststroke events, but with Indiana’s Anita Bottazzo and Tennessee’s McKenzie Siroky racing, she will have some steep competition. On the men’s side, the NC State sprinters are unmatched in depth, and if they choose correctly in the men’s skins race, and don’t have any mishaps like in match 5, they could pick up big points.
Indiana is tired after swimming last night, and they are not racing a number of their top athletes tonight. Liberty Clark, Alex Shackell, Owen McDonald, and Josh Bey are all out, which will significantly impact their point total.

Jackpots happen when the athlete who wins beats any of the athletes by a predetermined amount outlined in the rules here. The winner steals the points of all athletes who they beat by the margin.
If they only beat the 8th place athlete by the designated amount, they will earn 10 points. If they beat the 7th and 8th place athletes, they will earn 12 points etc. We will do our best to track it in the live recap, but the meet moves fast.
Scoring Note: DQs
The 3rd CSL match brought DQs into the forefront in a massive light after Stanford came out on top of Cal following jackpot DQ points in both of the final relays.
If an athlete/team is disqualified, the winner of the event steals their points, even if they came in under the jackpot threshold. This is true for both individual and relay events.
Athletes to Watch
Women
Anita Bottazzo (IU) — Bottazzo is coming off a strong performance last night that saw her finish 2nd in the 200 breast and 1st in the 100 breast. She will have steep competition tonight, but has the potential to be one of a few event winners for the Hoosiers. 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 IM Elizabeth Eichbrecht (IU) — Elizabeth Eichbrecht has been phenomenal in her freshman campaign so far, and last night, she picked up the win and personal best in the 500 freestyle and a 3rd place finish and personal best in the 200 free. If she continues to improve on her times, she could be a strong point scorer. 200 free, 500 free Charlotte Crush (TENN) — Freshman Crush has been proving why she was one of the top recruits in the class, and she has been exceptional in the CSL so far. It would not be completely shocking to see her walk home with a win tonight. 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly McKenzie Siroky (TENN) — Siroky is one of the top breaststrokers in the country, and her breaststroke points will be big for Tennessee tonight, especially since that is the one area Virginia appears to be weak at the moment 100 breast, 200 breast Claire Curzan (UVA) — We mentioned it above, but Claire Curzan had a huge performance at the SC World Trials last weekend that felt like it was a long time coming for a lot of swimming fans. She is now a world record holder, and it will be exciting to see what she is capable of tonight. 200 back, 100 fly Sara Curtis (UVA) — Only entered in one event and both relays, it seems likely that Sara Curtis is one of the athletes the University of Virginia is planning to use in the skins races. She had a great summer, but hasn’t quite shown that speed in yards yet. 50 free Eneli Jefimova (NCS) — Another breaststroker, Jefimova fills a big gap on the NC State team, but her competition will be steep tonight. 100 breast, 200 breast Leah Shackley (NCS) — Shackley is one of a few athletes who picked up a win against Virginia last time they met in the CSL, setting the top time in the 100 back. She will have Charlotte Crush to deal with in the event tonight, but she is another swimmer that could prevent a Virginia women’s sweep. 100 back, 200 back, 100 flyMen
Miroslav Knedla (IU) — Knedla is coming off one of the best CSL performances we have seen in the series last night, winning both backstroke events under the CSL record and in massive lifetime bests. 200 back, 100 IM Toby Barnett (IU) — With the absence of Josh Bey, Barnett is one of the top breaststrokers racing at the meet for Indiana, and will likely be a big point scorer for the team. Gabe Nunziata (TENN) — With Indiana’s top breaststrokers out and Virginia and NC State comparatively weak in the breaststroke events, Nunziata will be a big point scorer for the Volunteers in breaststroke. 100 breast, 200 breast Ulises Saravia (TENN) — Knedla took Saravia’s CSL record in the 100 back last night, and he will be looking to take it back tonight. 100 back Maximus Williamson (UVA) — Williamson is coming off making his first World Championship team for the United States last weekend, and will be swimming the breaststroke leg on the super skins relay again tonight after helping lead the Cavaliers to victory in the super skins relay in match 4. 50 free, 100 free, 200 IM Thomas Heilman (UVA) — Heilman holds the CSL record in both events he is swimming tonight, and will be the heavy favorite to win them. 100 fly, 200 fly Kaii Winkler (NCS) — Winkler is another CSL record holder and one of the top 100 IMers in history. He will also be a crucial member of the NC State relays. Winkler had a bit of a mishap in the 5th CSL match, taking it too easy in the 1st round of skins, and getting eliminated. If he races the skins tonight, he will be looking to avoid that mistake again. 100 fly, 100 IM Quintin McCarty (NCS) — McCarty is a big point scorer for the Wolfpack, and is entered in both sprint events tonight, which he won last match and did not race in the skins. 50 free, 100 freeRaces to Watch
Women
200 back — Claire Curzan, Charlotte Crush, Leah Shackley, Erika Pelaez, Teagan O’Dell, this race could be an NCAA ‘A’ final with the talent across the board. Breaststroke — Siroky, Bottazzo, and Jefimova will be battling in both breaststroke races and it has the potential to be incredibly exciting. 50 free — Camille Spink and Sara Curtis are the top two swimmers in the NCAA this season just two hundredths apart. They will be in lanes 4 and 5 tonight.Men
100 IM — It almost feels silly to list out swimmers in the event because all eight of them could earn the win, but keep your eye on Kaii Winkler, who is the CSL record holder and one of the fastest swimmers in history. 50 free — Maximus Williamson, Quintin McCarty, Nikoli Blackman, Jerry Fox, and Mikkel Lee are all top sprinters who will be hunting crucial points in the men’s 50 free. 200 free — Koby Bujak-Upton and David King will be in lanes four and five in the 200 freestyle and could make it a very exciting race.SwimSwam Prediction
Virginia feels like the clear choice to win. Their men, who were viewed by many as a weakness, outscored all the other teams at their last match and locked up the win after the women were disqualified in the 2nd round of skins relays. If they are in top form tonight, they could run away with it.
If any team looks poised to challenge Virginia, it’s the Tennessee Volunteers, though the battle between them and NC State for 2nd could be another incredibly exciting team race.
Indiana resting their top swimmers tonight puts them in a tight spot, and it will make it hard for them to compete with Tennessee or NC State.
