On Friday, Upper Deck named Wayne Gretzky the company’s second Legacy Partner. “The Great One” joins Michael Jordan in that exclusive club of GOATs.
The designation includes exclusive rights to produce premium and highly sought-after autographed collectibles, including trading cards and memorabilia, featuring his authenticated signature and likeness.
Gretzky has had a strong relationship with Upper Deck since the company began producing hockey product in 1990. They elevated their relationship as Upper Deck reached their 25th anniversary as a company to have an expanded collection of exclusive autographs and other memorabilia available.
Gretzky is the greatest player in NHL history. There is little dispute of that reality. Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin recently broke Gretzky’s goal scoring record, but his stats are still ridiculous.
He has more regular-season assists than any other player in league history has points. His 1,818 even strength points would rank fifth in NHL history. His 890 power play points are 129 more than any other player in history. Only two players in NHL history have more than Steve Yzerman’s 83 career regular-season short-handed points: Gretzky (149) and his Oilers teammate, Mark Messier (144).
Wayne Gretzky Master Collection
With the announcement of Gretzky becoming a Legacy Partner, Upper Deck also announced the presale of their new (incredible!) Wayne Gretzky Master Collection. The collection is numbered to 250 and comes in a wood box that looks amazing.
Each box includes a complete Wayne Gretzky 25-card Base Set, two autographs, one non-autographed memorabilia card, one Diamond Relic Base Set Parallel (#’d to 10) and one wild card hit (auto, memorabilia). The price: $5,999.99. It’s expected to ship at the end of the 2026 calendar year.
