On Monday morning, Kelly told SEC Network’s Peter Burns during SEC This Morning that Weeks’ calf strain is “not a long-term situation.” Kelly added that the update is “much better news” than what he initially feared. The team’s plan is to have Weeks wear a walking boot for the next 2 days before trying to return to practice on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Georgia native stands just 1 tackle shy of his career-high (28 in 2022) in any season with the Tigers through 3 games this year. He was all over the place against the Gators, tallying 12 combined tackles before exiting with his injury late in the third quarter.
It makes sense for LSU to take a cautious approach with Weeks. Kelly and Co. host Southeastern Louisiana in Week 4 before wrapping up September on the road against Ole Miss. While you never know what will happen on a college football Saturday, the Rebels’ contest is obviously the more important game. Kickoff between the Tigers and Lions in Week 4 is set for 7:45 p.m. E.T. on SEC Network.
