Days after the NFL announced it wouldn’t hold a supplemental draft, which would have provided an avenue for Sorsby to play the game (in some capacity) at its highest level, the CFL has essentially said “thanks, but no thanks” to the quarterback prospect.
“Upholding the integrity of the league and ensuring fair competition are paramount to the CFL,” the league said in a statement shared by USA Today. “The allegations involving Brendan Sorsby are serious and concerning.
“At this time, the CFL will not register a contract for him, and no team will be permitted to add him to its negotiation list.”
If Sorsby was banking on the CFL as a backup plan, I hope there are other contingency plans he could turn to ASAP.
