A POPULAR high street fashion chain is making a big change to its money-off voucher scheme, leaving shoppers worse off.
H&M membership customers will soon need to spend more to qualify for its sought-after £3 bonus vouchers, The Sun can reveal.
From October 1, shoppers will need to earn 150 points to receive a £3 voucher to spend in-store or online.
Points are earned at a rate of one point for every £1 spent, meaning customers will need to spend £150 to unlock the reward.
This is quite a change from the current setup, where you only need 100 points – equal to spending £100 – to get the same £3 voucher, making it noticeably tougher to earn rewards.
A spokesperson for H&M said: “We are constantly evolving our membership programme to better reflect how our customers engage with us today and make it even more rewarding and relevant to our community.
“The recent update to how Bonus Rewards are calculated is part of that ongoing development.
“Members will still enjoy great benefits, including points for every pound spent, as well as extra rewards for completing their profile, recycling unwanted garments through our garment collecting programme, and using their own bag when shopping.
“All previously earned points will remain valid, and members can continue to unlock meaningful rewards both in store and online.”
This isn’t the first time H&M has made changes to its loyalty scheme in recent months.
In March, the retailer removed its popular birthday offer for loyalty members.
The retailer also removed the 10% discount that new members received when signing up to the loyalty scheme.
These perks were replaced with “exclusive” prices and invitations to events.
However, loyalty members continued to benefit from early access to sales, free delivery on orders over £40, and the ability to earn 1 point for every £1 spent.
H&M increased its online returns fee in February, raising the cost from £1.99 to £2.95 per parcel.
Loyalty scheme members, who previously enjoyed free returns, now also have to pay the fee.
The returns charge was first introduced in September 2023, following similar moves by Zara, Boohoo, and Next.
