The Chicago Auto Show, the nation’s longest-running show of its kind, kicks off Saturday at McCormick Place, featuring brand-new experiences and some popular classics.
This year’s show includes several indoor test tracks, such as the Ford “Built Wild” track – where the Bronco family of vehicles goes off-road. Also returning this year are the popular Camp Jeep and Chicago Drives Electric test tracks.
Making its debut is a gas-powered test track, which allows participants to feel firsthand how the latest gas and hybrid models “perform in a dynamic indoor environment,” according to the Chicago Auto Show’s website.
Some accessories are also in the spotlight this year.
Britax is debuting the Galaxy360, a $429 rotating car seat that shows how tech has certainly changed.
“The ease of use, I mean, putting the child in and out every day, multiple times a day – this really brings a huge benefit,” said Nancy Heaton with Britax North America.
Local car enthusiasts have a space of their own at the new Chi-Town Alley, which showcases restored or modified rides, not from the dealership, but from the carport around the corner.
“It’s just a different way to celebrate car culture,” said Rutledge Wood, TV host and Chi-Town Alley emcee. “It’s like the greatest ’cars and coffee’ you can find but inside of an auto show.”
Visitors can get Real ID help at the Illinois Secretary of State’s pop-up or visit the supercar gallery, which gives off 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics vibes.
Chicago’s transit agencies are making it easy for visitors this year.
CTA shuttles are operating from the downtown Metra stations, the CTA Green Line and the Metra Electric Line, which stops inside for the fastest access to your new ride. The South Shore Line is also adding additional weekday stops to McCormick Place for the duration of the show.
