Before the Blackhawks take on the Bruins on Saturday evening we saw one encouraging sign on the ice, but got some non-news that isn’t quite as exciting.
The encouraging news: Frank Nazar joined the team at the morning skate. I shot the video below of him taking some rushes with the boys. He was still in a non-contact jersey and wasn’t part of the lines; we didn’t expect him back yet. But head coach Jeff Blashill said he’ll fully practice with the team on Sunday.

— Tab Bamford (@The1Tab) January 17, 2026Blashill did also say that Nazar probably won’t play against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, but offered a “we’ll see” beyond that. So good signs with Nazar.
Not as much with Teuvo Teräväinen, unfortunately. He was not at the morning skate, and Blashill said he is still out and the team still does not have a timeline for his return.
Teräväinen not being able to go tonight hurts a little more because… he was part of the Blackhawks’ dynasty teams. Hopefully he’s at least able to catch up with some of his former teammates who are in town tonight since he can’t participate in the game.
