Yes, at its core, The Summer I Turned Pretty was about Belly and Conrad (and Jere), but on that journey, so many of her other relationships became vital to who she is, including her friendship with Taylor (Rain Spencer), which was supposed to mimic what Laurel (Jackie Chung) and Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) had, along with her connection to her mother. Why didn't we see her reunite with everyone when she finally returned to Cousins? Conrad is her world, but he's not her whole world, especially not after her experience in Paris (she made it clear she wasn't going to drop everything for him this time around like she did for Jere), so, at the very least, we should've seen her reunion with Taylor and Laurel, as they were so instrumental to her journey.
Someone else explained, "Ending with a future beach wedding scene would have been so much better. And then a montage of all the family photos of Laurel and Susannah and their children in Cousins throughout all the years. Eventually turning into their children's photos and memories of Cousins"
