Bergerac season 3 confirms casting of Doctor Who and Only Fools and Horses legends

U&Drama has confirmed that Bergerac is set to return for a third season, while also announcing a handful of new cast members - and they include Georgia Tennant and Tessa Peake-Jones.

The upcoming instalment of the rebooted series, filming on which is now underway, is expected to return to U and U&Drama in 2027, with Damien Molony once again leading the cast as cop Jim Bergerac.

Tennant, who's known for playing the role of Jenny, the Doctor's daughter, in Doctor Who, joins the line-up as Laura, while Peake-Jones, who audiences will recognise from her role as Raquel Turner in the iconic BBC comedy Only Fools and Horses, joins the cast as Carol.

Also joining the fray are Jason Flemyng (Black Mirror) as Alistair and Lee Ingleby (The Serpent Queen) as Dominic.

The new season will follow Bergerac (Moloney) as he heads back to Jersey for a brand-new case.

The official synopsis reads: "Bergerac embarks upon his most shocking case yet, when his only significant lead in a suspicious death is a DNA match to Jersey's most notorious unsolved case - the Devil's Hole murder.

"To solve the case in the present, Bergerac must dig deep into the past as he uncovers evidence of a satanic cabal that goes right to the heart of Jersey society.  Meanwhile, with daughter Kim away at college, could Jim have finally met his perfect match when he meets down-to-earth physiotherapist, Laura (Tennant), whilst Charlie's life falls apart when she confronts a home intruder with devastating consequences."

Alongside Molony, other returning cast members include Zoë Wanamaker, who will be back as Charlie Hungerford, and Robert Gilbert, who's set to return as Barney Crozier.

Sasha Behar will also be back as Uma Dalal, alongside Celine Arden as Kara Molloy and Luke Nunn as Simon Calvert.

Other guest stars in season 3 will include Sean Gilder (Slow Horses) as Les, Alexander Cobb (Towards Zero) as Jake, Sule Rimi (Andor) as Jonathan, Matti Houghton (Believe Me) as Catherine, Liam Garrigan (Transformers) as Patrick, Elen Rhys (The One That Got Away) as Esme, and Sebastian Armesto (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Edward.

The rebooted series first launched in 2025, and has proved to be hugely popular among viewers. The second season, which launched back in April, averaged 1.3 million viewers across its 6-episode run, according to U&Drama.
