Reflecting on her brief working relationship with Reynolds on the 1980 crime film Rough Cut, Golden Globe-nominated actress Lesley-Anne Down recently told Entertainment Weekly all about Reynolds’ penchant for wearing his lifts.
“I remember going for a walk, because we were in London when we were doing that film,” Down told EW. “I said, ‘Don’t put those on,’” referring to Reynolds’ boots that gave him a boost of a few inches. “I said, ‘No! Your feet will hurt so badly.’”

“Burt was so funny, wasn’t he?” Down said. “Burt was just absolutely obsessed with three things: top, bottom, and middle. He was absolutely obsessed with all those weaves that he had in his head, and he was obsessed with the things that he put in his shoes to make him taller, and he was obsessed with his crotch.”
