Young Sherlock’s world is getting bigger with four new stars joining the main cast – including two Game of Thrones stars.
The Prime Video series, which followed the early adventures of the famous super-sleuth and soon-to-be enemy Moriarty, became one of the streaming service’s most-streamed original titles of all time upon its launch in March this year.
With season 2 starting filming in Palermo, Italy, Deadline has reported first announced casting details for those joining the next exploits.
Among those being given main roles are Aidan Gillen, Indira Varma, Sophie Skelton and Olivia Williams.
Gillen and Varma both previously starred in Game of Thrones as Petyr Baelish AKA Littlefinger and Ellaria Sand, respectively, though didn't appear in any scenes together.
Gillen is also known for his roles in Queer as Folk, Mayor of Kingstown and Peaky Blinders.
Meanwhile, Varma has become a regular face on British TV, starring in ITV's Coldwater in September last year, and BBC smash-hit The Other Bennet Sister at the beginning of 2026.
Olivia Williams is best known for playing roles including Camilla Parker Bowles in The Crown, Lavinia Bidlow in The Nevers and, most recently, Tula Harkonnen in Dune: Prophecy.
Sophie Skelton starred in period fantasy drama Outlander as Brianna Mackenzie/Fraser.
While details about their roles are currently kept under wraps, they will be joining Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Donal Finn as Sherlock and Moriarty.
Also returning are Natascha McElhone (who plays Sherlock’s mother Cordelia), Max Irons (Mycroft Holmes) and Holly Cattle (Beatrice Holmes).
Unfortunately, there are some other characters who will not be returning – most notably Zine Tseng, who led the cast with Tiffin and Finn as Xiao Wei, AKA Princess Gulun Shou’an, whose story arc was completed by the season 1 finale.
Joseph Fiennes, Tiffin’s real life uncle who played on-screen father Silas Holmes, will also not be returning.
