Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi inspected a strategic gas infrastructure project in Jordan being carried out by Egyptian petroleum sector companies as part of the growing energy cooperation between the two countries.
The project includes the construction of a gas compressor station in the Al-Khanasri area of northern Jordan for the Egyptian-Jordanian FAJR for Natural Gas Transmission and Supply Company. It is being carried out by a consortium of the Petroleum Projects & Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet) and Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (Enppi) to strengthen Jordan’s gas transmission network and increase its operating capacity.
During the visit, project officials said that construction has exceeded 96 percent completion, with the facility nearing operational readiness.
Badawi said that the project will strengthen the role of the Arab Gas Pipeline in supporting energy security in Egypt and Jordan while improving the flexibility of gas supplies.
He also praised the performance of the teams from FAJR, Petrojet and Enppi for maintaining high implementation, quality and safety standards while keeping the project on schedule.
