Henry Anstine Flips Commitment from Minnesota to Michigan for Fall 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

After initially announcing his intention to swim for the University of Minnesota, Henry Anstine has flipped his commitment and announced his verbal commitment to compete for the University of Michigan beginning in the fall of 2027.

“After careful consideration, I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic careers at the University of Michigan. I would like to thank the Michigan coaches for this amazing opportunity, my family, and all my coaches and teammates who supported me over the years. Go Blue!”

A rising senior at Malvern Prep School in Pennsylvania, Anstine has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team for the past three years. He currently trains year-round with the Suburban Seahawks Club, where he primarily specializes in freestyle.

At the 2025 Katie Ledecky Invitational in February, Anstine clocked a series of personal best performances. He placed 2nd in the 100 free (44.86), 3rd in the 50 free (20.57) and 200 free (1:37.86), 21st in the 500 free (4:37.29), 31st in the 100 back (53.00) and 47th in the 100 fly (51.93), setting a lifetime best in each event. He also contested the 200 IM (2:05.20).

Anstine turned in another string of fast swims at the 2026 NCSA Spring Championships in March. There, he placed 4th in the 200 free (1:36.24), 5th in the 100 free (44.06), 22nd in the 50 free (20.75) and 26th in the 500 free (4:30.26), posting a best time in all but the 50 free.

Anstine recently competed at the Pro Swim Series (LCM) in Indianapolis, where he raced the 50 free (24.23), 100 free (52.45) and 200 free (1:57.61).

A Division I program, Michigan is part of the Big Ten Conference and competes against Minnesota, where Anstine had originally verbally committed. Michigan was the runner-up at the 2026 Big Ten Conference Championships; the team sent seven athletes on to compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Championships, where they placed 8th overall.

To earn a second swim at the 2026 Big Ten Championships, it took times of 20.19/43.71/1:35.63/4:21.99 in the 50/100/200/500 free, putting Anstine outside the cutoff in each of his top events. On the team itself, he would have ranked 8th in the 100 free and 9th in the 200 free this past season. With another full season to go before Anstine joins the team, there is plenty of time to see these rankings shift

Anstine will join Brody Reber, Boone Wilcox, Allen Gyang, Anthony Dornoff, Charles Howard and Ben Luginski in Michigan’s 2027 recruiting class, which is shaping up to be a strong group of recruits.
