Harper Rushton, a finalist at the 2026 Futures Championship, has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Denison University in Ohio beginning in the fall of 2027.

A senior at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Maryland, Rushton has been a member of her school’s swimming and diving team since her freshman year. She also currently trains year-round with All Star Aquatics, where she specializes primarily in back and fly.
At the 2026 Metro Championships in February, Rushton turned in a strong showing, earning a second swim in both of her individual events. She placed 6th in the 200 IM (2:08.10) and 10th in the 100 fly (57.58). She also set a best time in the 100 free (53.07) as the leadoff on the 400 free relay.
The following month, Rushton posted a series of strong performances at the ISCA Senior International Cup. She placed 3rd in the 200 fly (2:03.90 – PB), 5th in the 200 IM (2:07.06 – PB), 8th in the 200 back (2:04.41), 11th in the 100 fly (55.96 – PB), 12th in the 200 free (1:54.59), 16th in the 50 back (27.53), 17th in the 100 free (53.39) and 32nd in the 50 free (25.17).
Rushton competed at the 2026 Futures Championship (LCM) in Greensboro over the summer, where she earned a second swim in four events. She placed 14th in the 200 fly (2:24.72) after setting a personal best time of 2:24.04 during prelims, and she finished 20th in the 100 back (1:05.92 – PB) and 200 back (2:24.14) and 28th in the 100 fly (1:04.78 – PB). She also contested the 50 back (31.52 – PB) and 50 fly (29.94).

100 fly – 55.96 200 fly – 2:03.90 100 back – 56.74 200 back – 2:03.19 200 IM – 2:07.06A Division III program in the North Coast Athletic Conference, the Denison women took the runner-up spot at last season’s conference championships before sending 15 athletes to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships, where they placed 4th overall.
Based on the results from the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, Rushton would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 IM, giving her plenty of events to choose from and putting her in a position to be a key contributor right from the start. Notably, Rushton’s top times would have placed her just outside the top 16 in the 100 fly and 200 fly at last season’s NCAA Division III Championships.
Rushton is currently set to be joined in the pool next season by Gabi Szymanski, Claire Keyworth, Julia Anderson, Campbell Shore, Ella Biber, Meredith Sperling, Tali Klein, Layla Hammer, Maura Yates, Jayne Steier and Elle Brooks, who should all make for strong training partners over their four seasons together.
