Summer Juniors qualifier Kenzie Hinrich has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Wisconsin beginning in fall 2027. Kenzie is the daughter of former NBA player Kirk Hinrich who played in the NBA from 2003-2016, spending most of his career with the Chicago Bulls. Kirk spent his collegiate basketball career at Kansas.

Hinrich swims for Sioux Falls Swim Team out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She finished her short course season at West Fargo Sectionals where she swam numerous best times. She won the 100 breast in a lifetime best 1:01.98 as well as the 200 breast in a 2:16.20, another lifetime best. She also won the 200 IM in a 2:02.12 which also marked a best time. She dropped a second in the 100 breast and two seconds in the 200 breast in the last year.
She kicked off her long course season strong at the Fort Lauderdale Open where she touched in a lifetime best 1:12.17 100 breaststroke for 17th.
Hinrich’s Best SCY Times Are:
100 breast: 1:01.98 200 breast: 2:16.20 200 IM: 2:02.12The Wisconsin women finished 4th at the 2026 Big Ten Championships in their first season under head coach Dr. Jack Brown. Backstroker Maggie Wanezek led the way with 89 individual points including wins in both backstroke events. The team has a strong breaststroke group as they scored 117 points in the 200 breast and 90 in the 100 breast at the 2026 Big Ten Championships. Those were their two highest scoring events.
Based on her best times, Hinrich adds even more depth to the strong breaststroke group as her best time in the 100 breast would already make the ‘C’ final. It took a 2:14.11 to make it back in the 200 breast and a 2:00.70 to make it back in the 200 IM.
Hinrich will arrive in Madison next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Brynn Sundell, Ellie Patla, and Sofia Piater.
