Searing heatwave continues in Egypt until Tuesday: EMA

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts the severe heatwave gripping the nation to continue across most parts of the country from Friday, June 5, until Tuesday, June 9.

Extremely hot conditions are expected during the day in most areas, with hot weather along the northern coast. Temperatures will be more moderate during the night and early morning hours.

Satellite imagery has detected intermittent wind activity across the country throughout the forecast.

The EMA noted that high humidity levels will increase the perceived temperature by one to two degrees Celsius above the actual temperature in the shade.

According to forecasts, Greater Cairo and the Lower Egypt will experience temperatures ranging between 36C and 37C during the day, while the northern coast will see temperatures between 28C and 33C.

Northern Upper Egypt will reach temperatures between 38C and 41C degrees, while southern Upper Egypt will experience the hottest weather in Egypt with temperatures ranging between 42-43C.

The EMA urged citizens to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours and to stay hydrated – especially given the continued hot weather and high humidity levels expected in the coming days.
