The first four Phillies to step up to the plate on Friday scored against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but starter Michael Soroka and the bullpen shut down Philadelphia for the rest of the game in a 5-4 comeback win.
The Diamondbacks (8-6) scored five runs in the fifth inning and held on for their third straight victory.
Soroka went 5.2 innings despite the rocky start, and the bullpen unit of Jonathan Loaisiga, Juan Morillo and Paul Sewald handled 3.1 frames with two hits and six strikeouts.

Sewald earned the save at the scene of his 2023 National League Championship Series triumph, although the Phillies (6-7) created a bit of drama. Justin Crawford hit a two-out triple to set up lead-off man Trea Turner, but Sewald got a fly out to end the game.
The Diamondbacks’ bullpen has allowed one earned run over the past three games.
The offense, meanwhile, continued its streak of games without hitting a home run, moving to 5-2 since anyone hit the ball over the fence.
Michael Soroka settles in after tough start
This game could have really gotten out of hand for Soroka, who started with a single, walk, double and Brandon Marsh home run.
From that point on, however, Soroka allowed two hits and struck out 10 hitters, his second game with double-digit punch outs through three starts this season.
Soroka and Randy Johnson are the only D-backs starting pitchers with multiple 10-strikeout performances in their first three starts with the team.
Soroka hung a couple slurves in the first inning and hit a pair of hitters with his signature breaking ball, but the pitch was otherwise effective again. He drew 15 whiffs with the slurve, four-seamer and changeup.
Through three starts, Soroka has a 2.87 ERA and 23 strikeouts.

Diamondbacks rally in 5th inning
Phillies starter Jesus Luzardo did not allow a hit through four innings and retired 10 straight hitters.
Rookie Jose Fernandez started the offense with a lead-off single in the fifth, followed by a seven-pitch walk from Tim Tawa. Alek Thomas reached base on a bunt to set the table.
With one out, Ketel Marte dumped a changeup into left field for two RBIs, followed by an Ildemaro Vargas RBI single.
Catcher James McCann, who entered the game after Gabriel Moreno left with lower back tightness, chased Luzardo with a double to the opposite field, plating the game-tying and go-ahead runs. Luzardo was unhittable for four innings and failed to get out of the fifth.
