Twisted Sister Names 80s Rock Legend as Dee Sniders Replacement

Twisted Sister won't go quietly. Less than a month after canceling their entire 2026 reunion run due to lead singer Dee Snider's deteriorating health, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda announced March 3 that former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach will take the mic for a handful of select dates this fall.

The band's social media post was direct: 'Twisted Sister members Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda are thrilled to announce that iconic vocalist and frontman Sebastian Bach will be fronting the band for a handful of select dates this fall. These appearances do not affect or conflict with Sebastian's current or future solo touring schedule, which remains fully intact.'

As of now, the only confirmed date on the band's website is a performance at the Alaska State Fair on September 4.

The news arrives after a painful February for fans. Twisted Sister had originally announced plans in September 2025 for a limited batch of 50th anniversary shows, 10 years after their farewell tour concluded, before canceling everything on February 5 due to Snider's sudden resignation. In a statement, the 70-year-old singer disclosed that he had been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis and had undergone several surgeries just to keep performing, often able to get through only a few songs at a time while in pain. He also revealed that the physical demands of his career had recently taken a toll on his heart. 'I don't know of any other way to rock,' Snider said in his statement. 'The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I'd rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.'

Snider also noted that around the time of the band's 2014 reunion, every Twisted Sister member had hand-selected a fill-in for themselves should the situation ever arise. Bach had previously turned down that informal ask, but he's clearly on board now.

Twisted Sister is a band that earned its place in rock history the hard way. Formed in New York in the early 1970s, they spent over a decade grinding the club circuit before breaking through with You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll in 1983 and achieving mainstream dominance with 1984's Stay Hungry, which produced the arena-rock standards 'We're Not Gonna Take It' and 'I Wanna Rock.' Their music became shorthand for rebellion, turning up everywhere from high school hallways to the floor of the U.S. Senate, where Snider famously testified before the PMRC in 1985.

Fan reaction to the Bach announcement landed on both sides. On Instagram, one commenter wrote, 'didn't see this happening but awesome pairing. awesome choice for vocalist, Sebastian has an incredible powerful voice. Twisted Bach sounds like a brilliant band name while Sebastian fronts the band. I hope it includes a UK England tour ? i would definitely like to go.'

Not everyone was convinced. On X, one fan flatly stated, 'Hope he does as well. Just think it’s odd to have twisted sister without him, he kind of IS twisted sister to me.'

Bach brings his own credibility to the stage. As the voice behind Skid Row's Slave to the Grind and 18 and Life, he's one of the few singers in hard rock whose range and stage presence could plausibly fill the space Snider built over five decades.
