India women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur faced an embarrassing situation during the India Women's vs Australia Women's ODI match on February 27 at the Ninja Stadium in Hobart. Harmanpreet Kaur went to play a fancy shot against an Aussie spinner, but ended up in a miserable situation.
The women's national cricket team of India is currently in Australia for a 3-match ODI series. India went to play the second match of the series after being defeated in the previous game. To stay equally in the 3-match contest, the Women in Blue need to win the second clash.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur registered a crucial knock against a star-studded Australian Bowling attack in the first innings. Came to bat at the number four of the batting position, Kaur played a grinding fifty-plus runs knock. Against 70 deliveries, she scored 54, helped by a couple of 4s and a maximum.
The well-played half-century was spoiled for a while because of a missed execution. Against Megan Schutt, Kaur was predetermined to play a reverse sweep in the last ball of the 39th over of the first innings. Megan Schutt pitched a slower, back-of-the-length and well outside off delivery. The ball was carried to the batter with extra bounce. Kaur positioned herself to execute a sweep shot, but failed to play according to the plans because of the extra bounce.

Kaur could have easily guided the ball on the offside, but by then, it was too late to adjust the position drastically. Observing the line of the delivery, the right-handed batter then positioned the bat for a lap shot. She had to stretch her arms and the bat to reach the ball. The ball hit the lower part of the bat and then hit right on the helmet grill of the batter.

Despite the wrong move, the leader of the team registered a half-century under pressure. Opener Pratika Rawal also clinched a half-century in the effort. Helped by a couple of half-centuries, Team India put a competitive total of 251 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs.
Australia's men's team star pacer, Mitchell Starc, who was in the venue as a part of the commentary team, burst into laughter watching Kaur's on-field mishap.
Physico rushed to the spot to check Harmanpreet
As the ball hit the helmet, physico rushed into the ground for a precautionary check-up. The game paused for a while. After the check-up, the match started again, and Harmanpreet Kaur completed his half-century.
In the previous ODI of the ongoing tour, the 36-year-old smashed a half-century as well. On February 24 in Brisbane, the Punjab-born scored a 53-run innings. Though, India did not manage to win the game.
