It was a relatively quiet morning for scratches, but there were still some top 8 seeds withdrawing from this morning. After winning the 500 free last night under the NCAA qualifying standard, ASU’s Deniz Ertan has given herself the morning off, as she has scratched the 400 IM, where she was the 5th seed. The move is not that surprising, as Ertan also scratched the at the 2025 Big 12 Championships. The Turkish swimmer still appears on the psych sheet in the 200 Fly (#6), the 1650 (#2) and the 200 Breast (#21) and will need to scratch at least one of those events.
She was not the lone top 8 scratch from ASU as #4 Filip Senc-Samardzic has dropped the men’s 200 free from his line-up. The scratch shouldn’t concern Sun Devils fans too much as Senc-Samardzic is the #3 seed in this morning’s 100 fly, where he sits only behind Arizona’s Haakon Naughton and the top seed and teammate Ilya Kharun.
