Heba Fouitah from Augusta, Georgia, has made a verbal commitment to the University of California, Los Angeles, for 2028-29 and beyond. She shared with SwimSwam:

I would also like to thank Jordan and the rest of the UCLA staff for offering me this amazing opportunity. Let’s go bruins ”
Fouitah is a junior at Lakeside High School. She swims year-round with Aiken-Augusta Swim League and is quite a polyvalent talent, with competitive times in IM, free, back, and fly. She was our pick for the #11-ranked recruit on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimmers in the high school class of 2028.
Fouitah has showed her versatility in high school swimming, where, as a freshman at the 2025 GHSA 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships, she won the 200 free (1:48.96, a PB) and was runner-up in the 100 back (55.55), and as a sophomore, she won the 200 IM (2:00.37) and was runner-up in the 100 fly (53.96, a PB). Also in 2026, she anchored Lakeside’s winning 400 free relay in 48.61 and swam fly (23.93) on the runner-up 200 medley relay.
At Winter Juniors East last December, she competed in the 50/100/200 free, 100/200 back, and 200 IM. She finaled in the 100 free (12th) and 100 back (21st) and notched a PB in the 100 back (54.17). At the Northeast Divisional Championships in March, she updated her lifetime bests in all her other events, including the 100 breast (1:05.98), 200 breast (2:16.65), 200 fly (2:00.20), and 400 IM (4:15.24).
In similar fashion, Fouitah lowered her times in every LCM event she swam this summer. She wrapped up the season in Irvine, first at U.S. Nationals, then at Summer Juniors. In the former, she competed in the 50/100/200 free, 50/100 back, and 50/100 fly, and 200 IM, and went PBs in the 50 free (26.43), 100 free (57.14), 50 fly (28.30), 100 fly (1:02.78), and 200 IM (2:18.83). At Junior Nationals, she swam the 50/100 free, 50/100 back, 50/100 fly, and 200 IM. She placed 21st in the 50 back and 17th in the 100 back, and left the meet with new times in the 50 back (29.66), 100 back (1:02.66), and 200 IM (2:17.57).
Fouitah will be an immediate impact player for the Bruins, with times that would already score at Big Ten Championships in the ‘B’ finals of the 200 back and 200 IM and the ‘C’ finals of the 200 free, 100 back, 100 fly, and 400 IM. She’s not far off in the 50 free (22.54 to score) and 200 breast (2:14.11 to score), giving her many, many ways to be of value at the conference meet. Best of all, her freestyle times should make her a strong contender for a spot on UCLA’s relays.
