Francesca Zucca from Cagliari, Italy has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Florida beginning in fall 2026.
“I chose Florida because I think it’s a great team with sport ideals that match with my characteristics, a very good place to live and have academic and athletic experience far away from home. Furthermore, the staff who helped me enroll was very kind and available for every occasion.”
Zucca swims for Esperia asd – Cagliari and represents Italy at the international level. She competed at the World University Games this past summer, finishing 5th in the 100 breast in a 1:08.11 and 6th in the 200 breast in a 2:29.56. She also helped Italy to a bronze medal in the women’s 4×100 medley relay as she split a 1:07.91 on the breaststroke leg.
Zucca’s Best LCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:
100 breast: 1:07.68 (59.17) 200 breast: 2:27.65 (2:09.41)The Florida women finished 2nd out of 13 teams at the 2025 SEC Championships with 1179 points. The team went on to finish 6th at the 2025 NCAA Championships with 232 points.
Based on her best converted times, Zucca is a huge addition to the Gators. Both of her converted times would have made the 2025 NCAA Championships as it took a 59.51 in the 100 breast and a 2:09.58 in the 200 breast to earn an invite.
Fellow Italian Anita Bottazzo led the way in the 100 breast at 2025 NCAAs, finishing 9th in a 57.84. Bottazzo was also the top 200 breaststroker for the team at 2025 NCAAs, finishing 20th in a 2:08.74. Bottazzo is the top breaststroker so far this season, posting a 56.87 in the 100 and a 2:06.97 in the 200.
Zucca will arrive this fall along with Valentina Procaccini, Lillie McPherson, Kim Bomin, Maeline Bessard, and Maddie Moreth. It is a international heavy class as Kim arrives from South Korea, McPherson Australia, Bessard Australia, and Procaccini Italy.
