Former NFL Safety and current pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Myron Rolle is making his way to Greeley Wednesday as part of Aims Community College Spotlight Speaker Series.
The event will kick off at 7 p.m. at Miller Auditorium inside the Aims Welcome Center, 4901 20th St., according to an Aims news release.
Rolle was an All-American at Florida State — graduating in 2009 — but delayed his NFL career to study at the University of Oxford in Oxford, United Kingdom as a Rhodes Scholar.
He was a sixth-round pick in 2010 NFL draft, and after two years in the NFL, retired to attend medical — again at Florida State University.
Rolle will share three strategies for “becoming at true leader,” inspired by lessons he learned from reading authors like Kofi Annan, Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, W. E. B. Dubois, Booker T. Washington and Ben Carson, according to an event description.
Rolle is the third of four speakers Aims has hosted — following New York Times bestselling author Amy Cuddy and former U.S. Navy SEAL officer Leif Babin. University of Northern Colorado graduate, “Sully” Sullenberger, best known for landing US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River in New York after both engines were disabled by a bird strike.
