Chicago Bears Injury Report: Kyler Gordon and Rome Odunze Are Back (Kinda)

The first installment of the Chicago Bears injury report ahead of the team’s playoff matchup against the Green Bay Packers is OUT. And it comes with a bit of good news regarding some key players working their way back from injury.

Wide receiver Rome Odunze and cornerback Kyler Gordon were both listed as limited participants in Tuesday’s walk-through at Halas Hall. Tuesday’s Bears injury report is deemed an estimation by the team, which didn’t have a full practice. In other words, Gordon and Odunze would have been limited in whatever work they would have done (in theory) had the team had an actual practice. This marks Odunze’s second consecutive limited participation, and I see that as an encouraging sign. As for Gordon, it is his first practice of any kind since hitting injured reserve with a groin injury. Progress, however small it may look, is still a good thing.

And here are some notes on players who found themselves on the Tuesday release of the Chicago Bears injury report ahead of Saturday’s playoff game against the Green Bay Packers:

The following players join Kyler Gordon and Rome Odunze as being limited on the Bears injury report: Wide receiver DJ Moore (knee) and offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo (quad). There was as moment in Chicago’s Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions in which it appeared as if Moore tweaked his knee. He would come back in and still end up playing 85.5 percent of the team’s offensive snaps. Let’s keep an eye on his status when the team has a full practice.

These players did not practice on Tuesday: Defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson (concussion), defensive lineman Joe Tryon-Shoyinka (concussion), wide receiver Jahdae Walker (illness). Sigh. That flu bug that was making the rounds still hasn’t completely left the building. Walker has seen some balls go his way the last few weeks. Hopefully, he can shake the illness and get back into the swing of things at practice. As for the pair of players in concussion protocol, I am most worried about Gardner-Johnson. The Bears’ secondary isn’t a strength right now and this team needs all hands on deck with Packers quarterback Jordan Love set to make his return to the lineup.

Players who were listed as full participants on Tuesday’s Bears injury report: Offensive lineman Braxton Jones (knee) and defensive back Nick McCloud (illness). With starting left tackle Ozzy Trapilo still limited because of a quad injury, it is encouraging to see that Jones, the team’s Week 1 starter at left tackle, would have been a full-go in an actual practice setting. I still think Theo Benedet would get the start if Trapilo can’t go, but having Jones as an option in case of an emergency makes me feel better.
