ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Not every Buffalo Bills fan could make it to Highmark Stadium for the game, but many found the next best thing at Ziggy’s, an official Bills Backers location recognized by the franchise. News10NBC’s Declan Stablow visited Ziggy’s to capture the atmosphere.
Jeff Carlson, a regular at Ziggy’s, praised the venue. “This is the top energy in all of Rochester to come to for the Bills, absolutely,” Carlson said. “It’s great here, they do a great job, you’re able to see the games, they got a DJ going, it’s a lot of fun here.”
Even fans of rival teams feel welcome. “I got to say, for an official nationally registered Bills bar, they do a good job of making me feel comfortable here even when I wear my Dolphins gear,” said Ken Burke, a Dolphins fan.
Two of the owners of Ziggy’s, Keri Waydelis and Patrick Stetzel, noted the growing crowds on game days. “Everybody’s here all the time. It’s the same crowd. We have regulars that come every single week,” they said. “The food here, the chicken wings… It’s like a home away from home for some people.”
They described the community atmosphere, with fans arriving hours before the game. “People showing up hours before the game starts to get there. Like this table right here. Right? Like someone who’s going to sit there today. I’ve been sitting there all season long and a lot of people celebrating wins and victories here together on the field and off the field,” Waydelis and Stetzel said.
The owners look forward to continuing to provide a safe space for Bills fans to watch the games each week, especially as the playoffs approach.
