When it rains in Chicago, it pours. With not much to celebrate day to day for the Chicago Bulls, the one thing we’ve always had was Michael Jordan and his legendary run in the Windy City. But here comes Stephen Curry, breaking not one, but two Jordan records — with another major one approaching soon.
So, what were the TWO Michael Jordan records broken?
Let me read you the charges facing the Baby-Faced Assassin.
On December 12, in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Curry put up 39 points. It was his sixth 35-plus point performance in just his 17th game this season. (Reminder: he’s almost 38 years old.)
That performance gave Curry the crown for the most 35-plus-point games after turning 30. He broke the record held by Michael Jordan.
Jordan had 93 such performances after turning 30; Curry had 94. Notice how I said ‘had’, that’s foreshadowing.

— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) December 13, 2025Two days later, on December 14, the Golden State Warriors faced the Portland Trail Blazers. That night, Curry took another step forward, scoring 48 points. And, again — this time in back-to-back games — he broke another Jordan record.
Curry now holds the mark for most 40-plus-point performances after turning 30. Jordan had 44 such games; Curry now has 45.

— Golden State Warriors (@warriors) December 15, 2025These specific records aren’t usually brought up in the “GOAT” discussion, but they’re strong indicators of longevity. Curry is still playing like an All-NBA player. His reliance on a beautiful shooting stroke and the Warriors’ offensive system has allowed him to age gracefully. Which basically means you’re going to be seeing a ton of headlines like these until Curry decides to hang up his Kobes or AEs. Whatever he’s wearing these days.
But there’s another reason he scores so much: he has to. Both of those record-breaking performances came in losses for the under-.500 Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors are not “contenders” despite what Draymond Green says. Which is why watching these legendary performances and records being broken in real time still feels surreal. Not a single other player scored even half as many points as Curry in either game. To keep the Warriors’ heads above water against elite offensive teams, Curry sometimes has to make 12 threes in a game — and still end up with an L in the standings.
And very soon, we might see Steph break another similar record.

Since turning 30, Steph has 172 30-plus point performances, just three fewer than Jordan. Curry is averaging nearly 30 points per game, which makes it almost a guarantee that he’ll pass that mark as well.
And to save you the time, Steph also has more 50-plus-point games than Jordan, and has played fewer games since turning 30 (Curry’s 420 compared to Jordan’s 434). At this point, it’s less about whether Steph will break another one of these records and more about which one goes next.
However, scoring in the modern era is higher than it was in the 90s. So, if anyone knows the inflation rate to keep Jordan’s records intact, here is where you come in.
