Derrion Reid chipped in 10 points and Tae Davis added a game-high 10 rebounds as the Sooners improved to 7-3 on the season. The Cowboys fell to 9-1.
This was a 79-76 game with 1:37 to go in regulation. That was before Davis powered home a dunk to extend the Sooners’ lead to five. Brown and Dayton Forsythe made clutch free throws down the stretch as Oklahoma sealed the victory.

That was the last lead Oklahoma State had in this one. Oklahoma responded with a 7-0 run to go up 58-53 with nine minutes remaining. It was able to hold the Cowboys at arm’s length the rest of the way to pick up the win and put an end to what had previously been a perfect start for Steve Lutz’s team.
Oklahoma outrebounded Oklahoma State 46-36. It shot the ball at 44% to the Cowboys’ 38%.
The Sooners are at home on Tuesday to face Kansas City. The Cowboys face Kansas City on Thursday.
