A random question to ponder as I start this Thursday set of BN Bears Bullets: Is it just me, or are the double-stuffed Oreos not as stuffed as they used to be?
The Chicago Bears return to the gridiron after a harrowing well-timed bye week with a Monday Night Football showdown against the Washington Commanders. We’ll be watching the game at The BN Watch Party. Will you join us?What You Need to Know About the Next BN Watch Party Monday, Oct. 13 (starting at 6 p.m.) Frontier Chicago – 1072 N. Who knew that Matt Nagy hated his London experience? In a story about what happens to teams when the NFL takes its talents across the pond, The Athletic’s Mike Silver has anecdotes from the former Bears head coach and ex-Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long. If you remember how tense things got between the two back in 2019, then this story is for you. In the meantime, this quote fron Nagy about the flight home takes the cake:“They had those seats that go in opposite directions. Nine hours of staring at each other. Nine hours of me glaring at them. We didn’t talk. I was pissed and they were pissed. That was just a weird moment. London’s dreary. The food stunk. You’re hangry. And (at halftime) I just lost my f—— mind.”
I don’t think we, as a football-consuming public, have talked about how (1) Cowboys owner Jerry Jones got hit with a $250,000 fine for throwing up an “inadvertent” middle finger at Jets fans, and that (2) he is reportedly going to appeal the fine. Last year, Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at fans. That a casual flip of the bird comes close to intentionally throwing a drink at someone doesn’t register with me. With that being said, it would be hilarious if Jones pays his fine C. Montgomery Burns style by throwing cash on the table and walking out of the room. That would be a real boss move. It sounds like trouble is brewing in paradise, where Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach Pete Carroll does not seem pleased with the offensive play-calling from Chip Kelly.
