Rawal, who made her debut earlier this year, was fined 10% of her match fee and handed a demerit point for inappropriate physical contact during the first ODI at Southampton. The 22-year-old batter collided with England pacer Lauren Filer while running a single in the 18th over and, moments later, brushed past spinner Sophie Ecclestone after her dismissal in the following over. Both incidents were deemed avoidable by match officials.
The ICC cited a violation of Article 2.12 of its Code of Conduct, which pertains to “inappropriate physical contact.” This is Rawal’s first offence in the past 24 months. The disciplinary action follows closely on the heels of Siraj’s penalty after the fast bowler was fined 15% of his match fee and slapped with a demerit point after an animated send-off to Ben Duckett during the third Test. In that instance, Siraj was found guilty under Article 2.5, which relates to actions that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a dismissed batter.
Meanwhile, England Women have also been fined five percent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate, falling one over short after time adjustments.
