She made the claim after Clark’s team-mates got the better of the Las Vegas Aces 81-54 while she sat on the sidelines with her groin injury.

Peck said: “I think that Indiana is even more dangerous when Caitlin Clark doesn’t play.

    “She’s a ball-dominant guard.

“The ball is in her hands a lot, so you know what you need to try to take away.”

A clip of her bold take spread like wildfire on social media and enraged Clark’s growing legion of fans.

One wrote on X: “ESPN’s crazy narrative continues.”

“Another said: “Crazy levels of hate for the person who brought WNBA to relevancy.”

And another said: “Who watches ESPN, bro?

    “Boycott that useless network.”

One remarked: “We gotta stop letting some people talk about basketball.”

Peck has yet to respond to the backlash she’s received for her Clark claim.

It may have irked the Clark fan club, but Peck’s comments do have some substance.

The Fever have a 4-4 record this season in the eight games the former University of Iowa star has played.

Their record without her in the starting five is marginally better, with the team going 5-4.

Clark could return to the court on Saturday night when the Fever host the Los Angeles Sparks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
