A wildfire that charred 51 acres in a rural neighborhood near El Cajon, forcing evacuations and injuring at least one firefighter, was 75% contained Friday.
The Hawick Fire erupted shortly after 2:30 p.m. Thursday off the 14000 block of Hawick Drive, just east of Interstate 8 and south of Lake Jennings Park Road in the unincorporated Glenview area, according to Cal Fire.
“Firefighters worked through the night and took advantage of favorable weather conditions. Crews will remain on scene today, continuing to build containment lines and extinguishing hot spots,” Cal Fire officials said.
The fire was 75% contained as of 6:50 a.m. Friday. There were no reports of structural damage, Cal Fire said.
All evacuation orders have been lifted, and residents are allowed to return to their homes.
