A pedestrian died after being struck by a passenger train near San Diego International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
The Amtrak train hit the person near the intersection of Pacific Highway and West Palm St. at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The county medical examiner’s office is handling the case and will release the person’s name pending notification of next of kin.
