La Liga champions cruise to win Real Madrid 5-0 Alaves

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, La Liga champions cruised to a resounding 5-0 victory over Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Real Madrid showcased their dominance from the start, with Karim Benzema opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a clinical finish.

The home side continued to pile on the pressure, with Vinicius Junior adding a second goal just before halftime. The second half saw more of the same, as Benzema completed his brace and Luka Modric and Rodrygo also found the back of the net.

Real Madrid sealed the Spanish top-flight title over a week ago and further showed their dominance by beating Granada 4-0, a result which confirmed relegation to the Segunda Division for Granada.

Carlo Ancelotti rotated his squad for that game with the scoresheet featuring names that have not been used regularly by the Italian coach; Fran Garcia, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz (2).

The hosts scored twice more before half time with Vinicius Junior netting from close range and Fede Valverde arrowing an effort inside the top right corner.

Bellingham laid on the fourth for Vinicius Junior and then Rodrygo's deflected effort ran into the path of substitute Arda Guler who made no mistake.

Real now lie 17 points clear at the top of the table, Alaves are back in 11th.

Vinicius increased the lead once more in the 70th minute from a precise cross by Bellingham that the Brazilian fired into the far top corner, and substitute Arda Güler sealed the win with a low finish after pouncing on a rebound.

Bellingham has both scored and assisted in the same LaLiga game for the fourth time this season, more than any other player in the competition in 2023-24.

Earlier, relegation-threatened Mallorca drew 1-1 at Osasuna, moving to 15th place and staying seven points from the demotion zone.

Girona missed a chance to overcome Barcelona for second place after a 1-0 loss to mid-table Villarreal at home. Girona stayed in third place after the loss, one point from Barcelona and five ahead of fourth-place Atletico Madrid.

The entire team played with precision and fluidity, moving the ball effortlessly and exploiting gaps in the opposition's defense. Goals from Casemiro and Eden Hazard further solidified Real Madrid's victory, leaving no doubt as to who was the superior team on this day.

Overall, it was a masterclass performance from Real Madrid, demonstrating their prowess and determination to succeed in every match they play. Their 5-0 rout of Alaves will surely go down as one of their most memorable victories of the season.
