Carson Hoak of Sioux City, Iowa has announced his verbal commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Cincinnati beginning in fall 2027.
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Cincinnati to continue my academic and athletic career! I would like to thank my family, friends and teammates for their support through this process. Also my coaches Robin, Heather, Eric and Kyle for helping me throughout my journey. I would also like to thank Coach Joey and Scott for giving me this opportunity! Go Bearcats”Hoak swims for Siouxland Wave Aquatic Team and Sioux City North/West High School. He most recently competed at the USA Swimming Futures Championship in Madison at the end of July, where he set lifetime bests in numerous events. He swam a 25.05 in the 50 free, a 1:57.17 in the 200 free, and 59.03 in the 100 back, and a 27.50 in the 50 back.
Back in February, Hoak swam to a 3rd place finish in the 100 back with a 50.19 as well as a 3rd place finish in the 200 free with a 1:39.21 at the 2026 IHSAA Boys State Championship.
Hoak’s Best SCY Times Are:
200 back: 1:47.51 100 back: 50.14 200 free: 1:39.21 100 free: 46.45 50 free: 21.24The Cincinnati men finished 6th out of seven teams at the 2026 Big 12 Championships with 802 points, finishing just behind BYU’s 843 points. Owen Chiles led the team with 68 individual points.
Based on his best times, Hoak is just off what it took to final at the 2026 Big 12 Championships. It took a 1:46.91 in the 200 back to earn a second swim. Cincinnati had 1 ‘A’ finalist, 3 ‘B’ finalists, and 1 ‘C’ finalist in the event. Aiden Gerst led with a 1:42.04 for 4th.
Hoak will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Chase Kendall. Kendall primarily specializes in distance freestyle.
