Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have been married for 26 years, and he recalls she demanded that he stop dating other women when they began their relationship.
“When I courted Catherine, she told me, ‘If we are doing this, you need to clean your act up,’” he said on the Friday, October 30 episode of The Graham Norton Show on the BBC.
“I was divorced and seeing some other people at the time, so I had to call five women to break things off,” the Fatal Attraction star added.
The Academy Award winners met at the Deauville American Film Festival in France in August 1998, after Danny DeVito introduced them. They became engaged on December 31, 1999, in Aspen, Colorado, with a 10-carat vintage diamond ring. The couple married at the Plaza Hotel in New York City on November 18, 2000. “You gotta have fun,” he added. “When I first met her, I said, ‘Do you like golf?’ She said, ‘I love golf.’ Well, I melted.”
