Dylan Dreyer made a tiny change to her appearance, but it was enough to get her Today show co-stars’ attention.
The 45-year-old NBC meteorologist surprised the crew during the Wednesday, Oct. 28, broadcast of Today’s third hour after switching up her usual hairstyle. While it may have looked like Dreyer got a fresh haircut, the real transformation required a much smaller adjustment.

“Before we do anything else, I think we should take a moment and acknowledge Dylan Dreyer’s new haircut,” co-anchor Craig Melvin announced at the start of the segment.

“I did not … guys, I parted my hair in the middle,” she explained.
Melvin, however, said the difference was noticeable as soon as she walked into the studio.
“You came in, and everyone in the studio said, ‘Dylan! Oh, my God, your hair, it’s amazing.’ It’s a great look. I like it,” he told her.
Dreyer revealed that she had shifted her usual side part about two inches toward the middle. But even that small change, she joked, made her feel like a completely different person.
“It’s normally parted over here, and I went over two inches. I’m a whole new person!” she said.
Al Roker also joined in, quipping, “I can’t do a part.”
Dreyer then compared her quick transformation to the superhero disguise made famous by Superman’s alter ego.
“See, I can change my whole look very easily,” she said. “It’s like Superman: You put on the glasses, and you’re a whole new person.”
The conversation continued when NBC correspondent Savannah Sellers joined the group. Sellers pointed out that Dreyer had worn the middle part before (see above in her parenting chat), prompting Melvin to admit that he hadn’t noticed.
“We like it, though,” he added.
“Thanks for looking,” Dreyer replied.

Dreyer’s hairstyle moment comes as Melvin tries a different look of his own.
In August, the anchor shared that he was growing his hair longer for the first time in 30 years, inviting fans to follow along with his hair journey.

Dreyer has supported the change, telling her co-host earlier this month, “I like this look,” when discussing his longer locks.
Between Melvin’s growing hair and Dreyer’s two-inch part adjustment, the Today crew has had plenty to talk about lately. As Dreyer demonstrated, sometimes a dramatic makeover doesn’t require a trip to the salon, just a slightly different part.
