Denver Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton has been on a tear the last handful of weeks, but his Week 7 performance against the Arizona Cardinals had him taking home AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Denver Broncos LB Alex Singleton named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 7
Alex Singleton was here, there, and everywhere on Sunday in the Broncos’ 30-16 win against the Arizona Cardinals. He finished the game with 19 tackles, the most by any defensive player so far this season across the league.
This is the first Player of the Week honor and joins safety Talanoa Hufanga as the second Bronco to receive this honor this season. Singleton is the first Broncos linebacker to win the award since Cody Barton won it in Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season against the New Orleans Saints.
Of Singleton’s 19 total tackles, he had 12 solo tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle for a loss, and one sack that came on an impressive goal-line stand by Denver’s defense.
He’s had a heck of a stretch as the Broncos defense has returned to form, similar to last season’s unit, and his play has been a big part of it at the second level of the field, where he and Justin Strnad have found rhythm together.
Singleton’s accolade will be tested this week as the Broncos defense looks to get revenge against the Kansas City Chiefs and Kenneth Walker, who forced 25+ missed tackles and powered Kansas City to over 200+ yards rushing in Week 1.
