U.S. Nationals qualifier Leah Debosch has announced her verbal commitment to swim at the University of Louisville beginning in the fall of 2028. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I’m so incredibly honored and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Louisville. I want to thank my family for always supporting me and always being by my side. Also thanks to all my coaches who’ve helped me become the swimmer I am today. And to all my teammates, thanks for always pushing me and making practice a place I love to be. Lastly thank you to all the coaches and people at Louisville who have made this possible and have made Louisville such an incredible place I can’t wait to spend the next 4!! GO CARDS
A junior at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana, Debosch has been a member of her high school’s varsity team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Carmel Swim Club, where she primarily specializes in sprint freestyle, backstroke, and IM.
The 2025-26 season saw Debosch drop over seven seconds in the 400 IM, over three seconds in the 100 free, about two and a half seconds in the 200 back, nearly a second and a half in the 200 free, and over a second in the 100 back and 200 free. On the high school scene, Debosch placed third in the 100 back (55.19) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:02.25) at the IHSAA State Championships in February, after finishing seventh and third in those events a year earlier. She swam her current lifetime bests of 54.86 and 2:00.39 in the prelims of those two events.
Debosch’s most successful meet of the season came a few weeks after high school state at the Four Corners Speedo Sectionals Championships, where she swam the rest of her current best times: 51.28 in the 100 free, 1:54.34 in the 200 free, 1:57.60 in the 200 back, and 4:18.78 in the 400 IM. She placed fourth in both the 200 back and 400 IM and sixth in the 200 IM (2:02.67), making the ‘A’ final in three events.
Beyond high school and sectional meets, Debosch has qualified for Winter Junior Nationals (SCY), Summer Junior Nationals (LCM), and U.S. Nationals (LCM). At U.S. Nationals over the summer, she placed 28th in the 200 IM (2:17.48 – PB), 40th in the 400 IM (4:57.57 – SB), and 46th in the 200 back (2:16.78).

To score at ACCs, times of 48.91/1:46.88 were needed in the 100/200 free, 52.61/1:55.26 in the 100/200 back, and 1:59.35/4:16.86 in the 200/400 IM, putting Debosch outside the cutoffs for now, though she still has nearly three full seasons of training ahead before lining up at her first conference meet.
Debosch joins versatile sprinter Helena Tripp as the only publicized commits in the Cardinals’ class of 2032 so far.
