Pete Crow-Armstrong one of 5 Gold Glove finalists for the Cubs ...Middle East

The Chicago Cubs had one of the best defenses in Major League Baseball, and five players from the team have been named finalists for Gold Glove awards.

Headlining the list is superstar center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who is aiming to win his second consecutive Gold Glove and could also win the National League MVP award after a stellar season.

Crow-Armstrong finished atop Major League Baseball in outs above average with 25 this season, and his 16 defensive runs saved ranked him third among center fielders in baseball, according to Fangraphs.

Andy Pages of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Michael Harris II of the Atlanta Braves were also named finalists.

Also trying to join Crow-Armstrong as a multi-time Gold Glove winner is third baseman Alex Bregman, who led all third basemen in defensive runs saved with 15 this season, according to Fangraphs.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Max Muncy and Javier Sanoja of the Miami Marlins are the other finalists for the award.

Ian Happ will be aiming to try winning a staggering fifth Gold Glove in left field, but he’ll face some stiff competition from Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers and Daylen Lile of the Washington Nationals.

Shortstop Dansby Swanson will be hoping to win his third career Gold Glove at shortstop, with Masyn Winn of the St. Louis Cardinals and Geraldo Perdomo of the Arizona Diamondbacks aiming to deny him that chance.

Finally the Cubs could have a first-time Gold Glover in right field, as Seiya Suzuki was named one of the three finalists, along with Carson Benge of the New York Mets and Corbin Carroll of the Diamondbacks.

Suzuki had a banner year in right field, posting a defensive runs saved of 14, good for the top spot among right fielders in Major League Baseball.

The winners of the Gold Glove awards will be announced on November 1.
