Will Hartig of Williamsburg, Virginia has announced his verbal commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Georgia.

I would also like to thank Coaches Graham, Morgan, and Jenna for having a huge impact on me. Thank you to Coach Neil, Coach Mike, and Coach Nate for believing in me and granting me this opportunity. Hartig swims for 757swim and Jamestown High School. He most recently competed at Summer Juniors in early August and swam to two top eight finishes. He swam to a runner-up finish in the 1500 free with a 15:31.48 and 5th in the 800 free with a 8:11.41. Both of those were lifetime bests. He also swam to a lifetime best with a 3:59.11 400 free for 18th.
Back in March, he had a strong showing at the Virginia Senior Championships. There he swam to a 4:25.70 500 free, 9:10.32 1000 free, and a 15:22.02 1650 free. All three swims were lifetime bests.

500 free: 4:25.70 1000 free: 9:10.32 1650 free: 15:22.02The Georgia men finished 4th at the 2026 SEC Championships before going on to finish 15th at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Ruard Van Renen led the team at NCAAs with 33 individual points.
Based on his best times, Hartig would have already scored in the 1650 free at 2026 SECs as he would have been 24th. It took a 4:20.84 to final in the 500 free. Sean Green led the team with a 14:46.88 1650 free with a 6th place finish at SECs.
Hartig will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Matias Ondrej Kristof, Alex Goodman, and Camden Cook.
