Sometimes it really just feels like the deck is stacked against these Blackhawks. And that was the case 94 seconds into the game when Connor Bedard blocked a shot that deflected… perfectly to Seth Jarvis for an easy goal. Less than two minutes later, a gorgeously executed play by the superior team doubled Carolina’s lead. The Canes added a third goal with about nine minutes left in regulation and I hope many of you opted to watch a great night of college football at that point. After the Hawks’ best chance of the period with about 60 seconds left, Carolina made it four with 36 on the clock and the Blackhawks couldn’t do anything right.
The Blackhawks allowed 16 scoring chances and nine high danger chances in the first period. (According to Natural Stat Trick, not the Blackhawks’ internal analytics.) They weren’t good. But Carolina was on their game and didn’t take their foot off the gas for 20 minutes.
The Hurricanes scored three more times in the second period. The Blackhawks were credited with two shots on net in the middle 20 minutes. The lead was seven after 40 minutes.
The Blackhawks did score twice in the third period. So that’s nice.
Star 1: Connor Bedard
Bedard had the primary assist on the Hawks’ first goal and scored later in the third period for a two-point night. Bedard also had two hits and two blocked shots in the game. He didn’t quit. (Some of his teammates never showed up, unfortunately).

Kantserov scored his ninth goal of the season in the third period, which extends his personal point streak.

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) November 8, 2026Star 3: Ryan Greene
Greene won six of seven faceoffs in the first period, and Carolina didn’t score a goal while his line was on the ice — the only three Blackhawks who didn’t have a goal against in the opening 20 minutes. The Hurricanes scored nine even strength goals in the game and Greene was not on the ice for one of them while skating 17:31. Kudos for that.
Key Takeaways
Alex Vlasic had two assists. So… yeah…Probably not how it's supposed to look pic.twitter.com/jqkSYY51Nn
— Ben Pope (@BenPopeCST) November 8, 2026 The Blackhawks pulled Spencer Knight after six goals. Arvid Söderblom got the rest of the night. Wyatt Kaiser was out of position a lot tonight. His minus-six on the game tells the story fairly well. This was ugly from the start. I expect something to happen in the organization — coach change (head or assistant?), trade(s)? — before the Blackhawks play another game on Thursday night. It’s not working. It’s not getting better. They allowed themselves to get overwhelmed right out of the gate in this game. That cannot happen.Hence then, the article about blackhawks 2 hurricanes 9 three stars key takeaways was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
