That broke the previous NAG of a 50.70 set by Thomas Heilman at last summer’s 2025 U.S. National Championships.

Cox, a Texas commit for this fall, entered the meet with a lifetime best 52.59 he swam a the 2024 Junior Pan Pac Championships. He has been as fast as a 53.88 this season that he swam for 18th at the US Open back in December. The swim marks Cox’s first ever NAG record.
In addition to his NAG record, Cox also becomes the 2nd fastest 17-18 ever in the world in the event. Only Kristof Milak has been faster as he swam a 50.62 at 18, a time that sits as the World Junior Record.
