Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered during the search for a missing person in a Cook County forest preserve, according to officials.
A spokesman for the Forest Preserves of Cook County said unidentified remains were found at Busse Woods North in Elk Grove Village during the search for Anthony Richert, a 43-year-old Schaumburg man who was last seen on June 25.
Richert’s vehicle was later located by detectives at Busse Woods North.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the remains belong to Richert. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office hasn’t released the victim’s identity or cause of death.
Forest Preserve Police, which are leading the investigation, said there is no indication the public is in danger.
