A husband and wife were stabbed to death in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide, Joliet police said Sunday.
The Joliet Police Department said officers were called to a home in the 1100 block of Loren Drive at around 5:14 a.m. on Sunday after a family member reported finding two people unresponsive. A 50-year-old man and 46-year-old woman were both found to have sustained stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the man and woman, who were married and lived together, became involved in a domestic-related confrontation in the garage early Sunday morning. At some point, police said the man stabbed the woman to death before taking his own life with the same knife.
The knife was recovered at the scene, police said.
Authorities said the couple’s two adult children and one juvenile child were at the residence when police arrived, but there’s no indication anyone else was involved in the incident.
There was no known threat to the public, according to police.
The identities of both individuals, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
