We're now at the midway point of The Capture season 3, and even after some huge, shocking moments in earlier instalments, one particular moment in episode 3 stood out - the death of Frank Napier.
No matter how much psychological or physical torture Napier put him through, Pierson wouldn't reveal anything about his apparent involvement in Isaac Turner's assassination.
Radio Times caught up exclusively with The Capture's creator Ben Chanan, and asked him how it was decided that now was the time for Frank to bite the dust, while noting that it can't have been an easy decision.
"It was quite an easy decision," he countered, "because I'd think to myself, as I was writing it, 'This is going to be the last series.' Now, is that true? I don't know. Never say never, right? But I think it's really healthy to just write each series as if it's going to be the last, that you're not just hanging on to people for the sake of it."
"I think Anthony Philipson, our lead director, did such a phenomenal job killing him. It was clearly directed by someone who loves Ron Perlman, as I do, and I think that really, really shows.
"I spoke to Ron beforehand, I said, 'Look, it’s the last season, you're going out with a bang.' And he was fine with it, he was glad of it. I think actors don't mind dying in a series, particularly if it's probably going to be the last one, but also, if you give them a really good send off."
Exactly what this means remains to be seen, but it certainly seems as though Carey is on the back foot once again, and is now left without one of her most surprising, yet most crucial allies.
The Capture season 3 will continue on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday 29 March 2026.
