Reno’s legal community has been roiled by a scandal in which a judge is accused of stalking a lawyer — both of them women — with potentially hundreds of contacts in more than a year.

The case came to light when the lawyer’s request for a temporary order of protection was granted Jan. 16.

The following week, the judge — Bridget Robb, 63 — announced she would be retiring from her post in family court. Now the Reno Gazette-Journal has reported the resignation of another lawyer, a man who reportedly had social relationships with both women.

The newspaper cited court documents in which the man acknowledged he was dating the alleged stalking victim — his colleague at the firm McDonald Carano — after breaking off a relationship with Robb in 2021.

The Washoe District Court announced on Monday, Jan. 26, that it was reviewing cases involving Robb and McDonald Carano for any indication of conflict of interest, the Gazette-Journal said.

The request for the order of protection alleged the stalking started in May 2024 and that the judge had been seen outside the female lawyer’s home, workplace and gym.

Court documents obtained by Reno TV station KRNV said police investigating the claims in late 2025 logged “multiple occasions” on which Robb was seen in her car outside the gym where the lawyer was working out. On Jan. 7, police interviewed the judge about her actions; she reportedly admitted to stalking behavior and “described her actions as a coping mechanism related to a prior personal relationship,” KRNV said.

No criminal charges have been filed against Robb. The next court date concerning the protection order is scheduled for Feb. 13, a week after her retirement date.

Before the scandal broke, Robb announced early this month that she would leave her family court seat to run for a judgeship in the district court’s civil/criminal division on the November ballot. An alumna of Santa Clara University law school, she was appointed to the bench in 2006.

On Jan. 22, she said she was ending her campaign and would retire on Feb. 6. A public statement she released said: “I believe stepping away from my judicial role and the election is in the best interest of the court, my family, and the community. I ask for respect and understanding for all involved during this transition.”
