Later on Jan. 30, Vonn took to Instagram to reassure fans she still has every intention of competing.
"This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics… but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback," she continued. "My Olympic dream is not over. Thank you for all of the love and support. I will give more information when I have it. Thank you to all the medical staff who helped me today. I am grateful for all the incredible help I received."

Since late 2024, Vonn has been pursuing a comeback with the goal of competing at the Milan-Cortina Olympics. Prior to her crash, she had scored five podium finishes in downhills this season and was the leader of the World Cup standings going into the race on Jan. 30.
