Plus, he would be doing it in an environment that isn’t as pressure-packed as Philly’s seemingly unstable situation. However, the allure of being the offensive playcaller in Baltimore with Lamar Jackson could be too much to pass up for Doyle.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE 2026 CHICAGO BEARS SALARY CAP SITUATION
On the one hand, I don’t want to see the Bears lose a top assistant like Declan Doyle. Chicago’s football team having continuity among the coaches who work the most with the quarterback isn’t something we are used to seeing around here. So to get it with Doyle and Johnson would be a welcome treat. But on the other hand, I think it speaks well of Johnson’s staff-building ability that the new, defensive-leaning head coach in Baltimore (Jesse Minter) is willing to interview an offensive coordinator candidate with no play-calling experience. It would certainly be a bold hire. But the juice could be worth the squeeze for the Ravens.
If Declan Doyle says “thanks, but no thanks” to the Eagles only to turn around to take the offensive coordinator gig with the Ravens, it would be a notable development because it would reveal how folks feel about the Philly OC gig. But that feels like a different conversation for another post. In any case, we will be watching this situation to see how it unfolds. If Declan Doyle gets the job, I’ll be happy for him. And if he doesn’t, his return to the Bears will be a welcome one.
