Horace Grant Jumps Into the Media Game (and He’s Working with Phil, Scottie and More) ...Middle East

It’s been a blast-from-the-past kind of week in Chicago. From Derrick Rose returning to the city to a wave of former Bulls reuniting in the Windy City, the nostalgia meter if going off. Now, another familiar face from one of basketball’s most iconic eras is stepping back into the spotlight, this time in a very different way.

Horace Grant, the four-time NBA champion and longtime running mate of legends like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, is trading hardwood floors for studio lights. Grant is launching Legends in Session with Horace Grant, a new television series currently filming in Chicago that blends sports storytelling, cultural reflection, and community service into a powerful hour-long format.

What is ‘Legends in Session with Horace Grant’?

What I could gather from Legends in Session with Horace Grant is that, yes, technically, it’s a talk show, but not in the way we’re used to seeing. It’s not just a podcast with cameras, and it’s not one of those setups where people sit down, tell a few stories, crack some jokes, and move on. Although, knowing Horace Grant, there will probably no dull moments.

What separates it is the sense that this show is actually for the game. Not just for the fans who enjoy highlights and hot takes, but people who truly understand basketball, the rhythm and the flow of it, the grind, the sacrifices you don’t see, and the unasked moments that don’t always show up on a stat sheet.

Each episode is structured like an NBA game, moving through different “quarters” of conversation, which feels intentional rather than gimmicky. It gives the discussions room to breathe, instead of rushing to the next soundbite.

I also genuinely believe there’s also something so refreshing about seeing sports media continue to move in this direction slower, more thoughtful, and more personal. And having someone with Grant’s résumé leading those conversations matters.

This is a player who made multiple All-Defensive teams, won NBA championships, and spent his career alongside some of the greatest players the league has ever seen. He’s literally lived out the pressure, the locker rooms, seeing the highs, and the aftermath, which gives the conversations a level of understanding you can’t really fake.

“There are so many stories we’ve never had the chance to tell, and this show will allow us to celebrate what we’ve lived through, to give back while we do it, and to inspire the next generation to build on what we started,” said Grant. “At its heart, Legends in Session is more than a talk show, it’s a movement that bridges sports, storytelling, and service.”

Layered into all of that is a focus on honoring legacies and giving back, which feels less like a branding angle and more like a natural extension of the people involved. The stories aren’t just about what happened on the court, but what those moments meant, and how they still matter now.

At a time when so much sports content is built to go viral in 30 seconds, Legends in Session feels like it’s comfortable slowing things down. And honestly, that might be what makes it work. By the way, once you see who the star cast is, I know you’ll be hype for it.

The first season has 13-one hour episodes and is expected to feature some of Grant’s closest friends, fiercest rivals, and most respected teammates, including Charles Oakley, Vernon Maxwell, Robert Horry, Bill Cartright, Phil Jackson, Scottie Pippen, Stacey King, BJ Armstrong, Gary Payton, Penny Hardaway, and his brother Harvey, among others.

All that to say, I’m genuinely excited to see what Legends in Session with Horace Grant turns into. It feels like one of those ideas that makes sense the more you think about it, the right voice, the right timing, and the right respect for the game. If there were such a thing as fictional stock in a show, this is one I’d be buying early.
